My many years experience in recruitment as well as marketing has enabled deeper understanding of clients’ requirements as well as more accurate assessments of candidates’ marketing skills and their potential “fit” with client briefs.  As a result, I produce more relevant and higher quality short-lists and clients hire better marketers.

My experience?  I’ve been specialising in recruiting marketers for 0ver 20 years.   Prior to this I worked in marketing for many years with major household brand names in FMCG, tourism, QSR and advertising.

Ownership

The consultancy is owned and operated by Philip Brown.  Philip is an ex marketer turned specialist recruiter with extensive networks.  He’s a “one man band” –  and  handling Sydney and national roles with an excellent placement record over 20 years.

Philip has a relaxed, easy-going style, he’s a good listener, has a sense of humour, strong ethics and he cares.  Working for himself, Philip keeps the number of recruitment assignments at any one time to a sensible limit.  As a result, working with fewer clients at any point in time means better results all round.

The process with clients

  • Consult closely with clients to really understand their business and their objectives for the role.  The brief should ideally include input from the hiring manager – special challenges or projects the new hire will need to tackle within the next year or two.
  • Develop target lists to identify suitable candidates in the passive and active markets.
  • Online advertising to complement network search.
  • Detailed interview assessments with selected candidates – assess the “fit” as well as candidate interest in the role and company.
  • Development of the short-list, preparing reports and presentation to the client.
  • Arrangement of client/candidate interviews and follow-up assessments.
  • Conducting detailed reference checking of candidates and arranging any testing if required.
  • Negotiating an offer and managing the candidate’s expectations and acceptance.
  • Finally, conduct regular periodic follow-up with clients and candidates after the placement.
